The human body and water
- Muscles consist of 75% water
- The brain consists of 90% water
- Blood consists of 83% water
- Bones consist of 22% water
With this knowledge it is not surprising that we need (a lot of) water. Not only to live, but also to function normally in our daily activities. Water lubricates and protects our joints, regulates our body temperature, the transport of nutrients and oxygen to our cells. Protects our vital organs such as the heart and lungs, and helps with digestion and detoxification.
You can get complaints by not getting enough water. Common symptoms and symptoms of fluid deficiency are: dry skin, constipation, fatigue, muscle cramps, attention deficit, migraine and irregular blood pressure.
Reasons to drink enough water
- Youthful skin
Water contributes to a better elasticity of the skin. It moisturizes the skin and is active in the formation of new cells. All these elements contribute to improving the overall image, namely a beautiful appearance and the youthfulness of the skin.
- Better productivity at work
Water helps you think faster and concentrate better. The right amount of fluid in the body has been proven to help the neurotransmitters in the brain and spinal cord to function more efficiently.
- Weight loss, digestion and constipation
Water promotes weight loss, as soon as fat is metabolically broken down, water flushes it down as stool. Fiber and water work together during digestion, the more water you drink, the easier the food is transported through the system. This results in less chance of constipation. In addition: you reduce your hunger by drinking water.
- Less muscle damage
Water keeps the muscles and joints lubricated, this way your body protects you from sprains and cramps.
- Relieves fatigue
If the water level in the body is low, the heart and other organs must work twice as hard for their normal function. To produce sufficient energy for these tasks, the body needs sufficient water and other nutrients (including oxygen). If you drink enough, this will result in less fatigue.
- Natural cure for headache
Dehydration is one of the main causes of headache. So drinking more water helps prevent headaches caused by dehydration.
